Part II

Excerpts presented by the Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha Conservation Center

The Fifth Commandment - You Shall Not Kill

BoysLakeHuman life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception.  From the first moment of his or her existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life. (no. 2270)

The Seventh Commandment - You Shall Not Steal

Giraffe

Animals are God's creatures.  He surrounds them with his providential care.  By their mere existence they bless him and give him glory.  Thus men owe them kindness.  We should recall the gentleness with which saints like St. Francis of Assisi or St. Philip Neri treated animals. (no. 2416)
